Uni Review
Week 6 Reflection
Here are my thoughts on how i have been traveling in the first 6 weeks of this unit.
1. Practical ability to leverage off web 2.0 to enhance personal branding.
- Post relevant reviews and news that i see online that relates to this topic, hopefully people are can it for the first time here, as well as respond to all comments internal and external to the unit .
- I have created various accounts on popular web 2.0 sites as well as use existing accounts to expand my reach. (2 twitter accounts, del, icio.us page for all links i feel are relevant, twitterfeed to have my blog posted directly to twitter, and feedburner to manage my RSS feeds for people to subscribe to my blog )
- Here was a post that i discussed my thoughts on digital branding http://matthewhamerton.wordpress.com/2009/07/29/personal-brand/
2. Manner and consistency of participation in weekly workshops activities and your contribution.
- I’ve tried to get around 3 posts per week, but I will admit the last two weeks haven’t been as good as i would like. However i feel that i have answered majority of all the topics raised in the workshops, up to date now.
- I’ve created a post of some stories that i have seen in the news that i though others in the unit might find interesting an a subject to discussions. (http://matthewhamerton.wordpress.com/2009/08/20/facebook-sued-for-privacy-concerns-but-why/)
3. Ability to appraise Web2.0 strategies and solutions for organisational and personal success.
- I have written a post of what i feel are some of the top web 2.0 tools that people should start using (http://matthewhamerton.wordpress.com/2009/08/13/favourite-web-2-0-tools/)
- As well as a post on what I think makes a good blog post with examples of sites that blog extremely well (http://matthewhamerton.wordpress.com/2009/08/12/making-a-good-blog-post/)
- Understanding to core patterns of web 2.0 http://matthewhamerton.wordpress.com/2009/08/30/core-patterns-of-web-2-0/
4. Ability to engage successfully with the wider community (including people outside of QUT) using Web 2.0 tools and techniques.
- With all of the accounts that i have been creating, I’m using my name (also making sure that i am protecting my identity online)
- Constantly updating my twitter page with new blog posts and links from my delicious feeds
- Read and comment on various large blogs like engadget and lifehacker.
5. Leadership via the ability to contribute to the structure and format of the workshop activities, and the smooth running of the online community.
- I’ve tried to be helpful during the lectures as well as i made an effort to get as many people using delicious through a blog entry, http://matthewhamerton.wordpress.com/2009/08/20/del-icio-us-feed-is-up/ with the power of tagging with “inb346″ As it stands there are a couple of people who are following the same practice as me.
- Ideas on improving digitalorgs http://matthewhamerton.wordpress.com/2009/08/30/improving-the-digitalorgs-community/
- One area of improvement i need to address in the number of comments i am making on other class members blogs. With only a small amount per week i am aiming for the rest of the semester to be 15+.
Here are some examples of the comments i have been making on my fellows classmates blogs.
